The pipeline of women going into leadership shrinks as the salaries go higher: Women start out at 48% of entry level positions, but fall to 21% at the Csuite (this is up 3-4% from 2015).
The problem starts at the very beginning of a woman’s career—it’s not the ‘glass ceiling’ but the ‘broken rung’ in the first step of the ladder.
The bottom line is that men hold 62% of first level management positions, and--statistically--women never make up difference.
