Ringing Your Customer Up
Let's begin by reviewing each step you will take to process basic financial transactions in retail.
- After ringing the customer up say aloud what their total is as it reads on the bottom of the screen
If there are any rewards programs/discounts that they can utilize on this purchase ask them prior to them swiping/inserting/handing off their form of payment
After applying their discount (if applicable) only take their payment if it is given in a form that needs to be manually inserted, if they provide a card or choose to pay with Android/Apple/Google pay they will do so on the key pad
The customer should follow the prompts on the pin pad to either enter a pin or sign to authorize payment
If paying with cash, check or voucher politely take their payment and enter it on your POS
