It's not enough just to jot down some general thoughts about what you want to accomplish during a session. What you actually do in your session should align with what you say that your audience should be able to do. If you say that people should be able to use a new skill (for example), then you ought to make sure you design your session with practice opportunities for them to try out that new skill. Otherwise you're just informing people and you'll never know if they can actually use that new skill!
