On December 3, 2012 I had the honor of speaking to a group of powerful women in Washington DC at a TEDx event, TEDxMassAveWomen. It gave me the chance to distill down all the data I'd collected about women in the workplace, our successes and our failures. The video summary is (sadly) still very accurate and I've updated all the data links as of 2019 at the link above.
What I’ve learned in exploring hundreds of scientific studies is that the picture of female success is complicated, and affected more strongly than most of us believe by two core factors:
(1) our own worldview and what we choose to believe about ourselves and our potential for success AND
(2) unconscious bias--including among women--in our corporate and social cultures.
