This article further examines the so-called “acolyte effect” to see if protégés of successful head coaches are in deed successful when given the same (or similar) opportunities. They tracked the career outcomes of almost 1,300 coaches over 30 years. This activity furthers the notion that one's social network should not be such a heavy determining factor in their expected success.
