Empowering Women in the Workforce
One of my favorite quotes by Dr. Maya Angelou is "nothing will work, unless you do". What this has always taught me was, if there is anything I want out of life, I have to put in the work. As leaders, no matter how successful, we learn very early that in order to lead we must first follow, we must first put in the work. This is the inspiration behind our StepUpStepOut campaign. It's all about stepping up to the challenge to be great and not being afraid to step out of what society has defined as the standard.
Nothing is more inspiring to me than when I see women lifting each other up. We like to say "real queens fix each other's crowns". So, as women on our individual paths, we should constantly be teaching, empowering, encouraging and inspiring other women along the way.
I once read a quote that said "girls who dream, become women with vision". This awesome truth goes hand in hand with my foundation. We stand firm on our name, Dare2Dream, because we know that as long as we continue to challenge young people to pursue their dreams, they will continue to thrive. They will test waters never before tested, they will climb mountains never before conquered, and they will achieve greatness never before dreamed. Their dreams will be the vision for the future.
